The Beach Animals Story
Right, so the four of them were apprentices to this proper reclusive alchemist, tucked away somewhere in Notting Hill, who was trying his hand at transmuting base emotions - your everyday muck and mire of feelings - into pure sonic gold.
Well, the experiment went catastrophically (or brilliantly, depending on your cuppa tea) wrong, and it properly fused 'em with raw, primal energies and the old bloke's collection of seaside 'curios.'
Next thing you know, they stumbled out, instruments somehow in hand, just compelled to play, like.
"Beach Animals," the name, that's all down to the coastal bits and bobs - think sand, salt, the spirits of weird seaside creatures - that are now part and parcel of their very being.
Their tunes? That's the sound of this dodgy, ongoing transmutation, a right magical muddle. And the footprint logo? Bit of a laugh, that - it's the alchemical symbol for 'terra firma,' solid ground.
Ironic, innit?
